Lucienne operates like a winery/cellar—carefully tasting, packaging, cataloguing, and preserving each [coffee] on your behalf right here in Colorado. This is a major understatement and honestly sounds much easier than it actually is.
Partner coffees are rested for 7-14 days, individually vacuum packed in 100g increments, catalogued, then placed in a deep freeze (-18°F) until ordered by you.
All coffees are delivered in freezer-safe, flat vacuum bags with integrated, resealable zippers.
We taste every single bag of coffee we purchase blind before listing them for sale to ensure quality remains high. We do not discount or sell rejected coffees. (Sorry. These end up being my husband and I’s morning cups.)
We specialize in forgiving, un-finicky, stunning coffees meant for special occasions, coffee nerds, or just treating yourself.
Over time, we hope to build quite the catalogue of both new and legacy offerings no longer available anywhere else.

Before you read on, we do offer espresso-specific roasts, if that is what you’re looking for!
Most Lucienne offerings are roasted with filter preparation in mind, unless noted otherwise. This is the easiest, most forgiving, most reliable method to taste these coffees with minimal fuss and waste on your end.A skilled barista can certainly dial these in for espresso with amazing results as well. We see it all the time.
However, for most customers, we generally don’t recommend this due to the size of our bags at 100g each. We believe most baristas need at a minimum 3-4 pulls to approach a decent shot, and by then you may or may not have enough for a 5th. Because the quantity is low and the price is high, it just doesn’t make economic sense, and we’d hate for you to end up wasting so much coffee.
Of course, this is the case with any coffee, and can easily be solved by purchasing more than one bag... In other words, like most things, this problem can be solved with money. But this economy is tough.
ALL THAT BEING SAID, I know there are a bunch of you espresso maniacs out there who will do it anyway. I won’t stop you from your fun. :)

Josh’s notes:
“Holy fuck amazing bag smell” is the first note in my notebook about this one. On bag open, this coffee smells like a whole bag of Dove dark chocolate. You could bury your face in this. Live in this. It’s also the smell of rich chocolate frosted raspberry cake, or a filled bag of Halloween candy. On grind, it begins to smell just like a Gansito, one that has been left melting in the sun, or the shelf of a too-warm CDMX Oxxo. It’s a very strong aroma of chocolate, cake, cream, and raspberry filling. In the cup, this actually tastes like baked goods. Like, the best brownie you ever had in your life. All edges. It is uncanny the smell of high quality cacao baking in the oven, forming a delicious crust.
This particular coffee has received the official stamp of spousal approval. Not that my husband Chris isn’t a coffee drinker; quite the opposite. He’s just harder to blow away, which this coffee did many times over.
Goes shockingly well with milk, and milk based drinks if you dare to pull turbo shots with this.
Incredible offering from Hatou.
We also have an equally amazing orange bourbon with the same processing from the same farm available here: El Encanto Yeasted Thermal Shock x2 Ferment Washed Orange Bourbon

Roast:
Roasted light-medium(ish) and spectacularly by our friends at Hatou Coffee and Roasters in Jeju, South Korea, rested for 7 days, then vacuum packed and frozen. I recommend enjoying this coffee right away.
Josh’s notes:
Legendarily delish processed Ethiopia returns! This coffee always sells incredibly fast, and for damned good reason. It is so good.
Bright with notes of juicy and tart white grapes, or a nice, high end dry white wine. The ultra clean body of an iced black tea with a little lemon. The deep purpled edge of dark cassis liquor lingers in the back too. It is a beautiful cup of dynamic, complex Ethiopian coffee that is sure to please a wide range of drinkers, and happens to go excellent over ice.
I have been waiting a long while for it to be offered again (and according to my waitlist sign ups, so have you). Lots of other roasters carry Halo Hartume too, but I specifically like Glitch’s as I love their roast profile on this coffee.

Roasted light and spectacularly by our friends at Glitch Coffee and Roasters in Tokyo, Japan.
